Intellectual Output 7 aims to devise, agree through consensus and finally document a Glossary of Oral Health Professionals' Higher Education in Europe. This IO was led by Prof Julia Davies from the University of Malmo, Sweden.

The creation of content and definitions of terms for the glossary was determined through a series of dedicated events and meetings – held both across the O-Health-Edu team, and also by drawing together key opinion leaders at ADEE events. The testing of “fitness for purpose” of the content, was derived through open stakeholder consultation. final glossary was then given a name (Articulate) and  launched as an independent online resource including a built-in mechanism for user feedback.

The process and the existing glossary were the published in EJDE focuses on key terms used within the Higher Education and European Political contexts so as to clearly define core terms and thereby enabling standardised conversations and dialogues around the future strategies for Oral Health Professional Education. 

In addition to defining core terms in the wider oral health professionals education area, a secondary core task of the glossary is the defition of reference terms within the O-Health-Edu data collection instrument. Have an interactive tool to clearly define any ambigious term will enable more concise responses. Thus the work of IO07 is closely linked with that of IO03 & IO04.

The process of devising the glossary follows a published 7 step approach. The seven step method is based upon the methodology used for the Lactapedia glossary Boss et al. (2020). While at the Barcelona Feb 2020 Transnational Meeting of the steering committee, Prof Davies updated on the 7 stage model being employed to guide the glossary development. The need for constant interaction on terms, their applicability in various European contexts (non native english speaking in particular) was strongly emphasised. It was agreed to simplify the terms as much as possible and to make definitions accessible to multiple stakeholders including potential students and the general public. Regular zoom meetings will follow to agree final definitions in advance of Strasbourg workshop and wider consultation.
